My shoe size is a women’s 9 ½ (sometimes up to a 10), so I got the Medium splint. It seems to be about the right size, as far as toe to ankle length goes. But the neoprene part that goes around the ball of my somewhat wide-ish foot feels too tight and actually hurts after a while. I really wanted to wear this all night to keep my foot in a 90-degree position, but after a few hours, the discomfort actually woke me up and I had to take it off. I haven’t used it since, and I should probably give it another chance. But I just wish they could have made that part adjustable, too, like they did on the ankle. I had my husband try it on so I could take some pics of it, and he said it was tight for him, too.
I see from other reviews that the fit seems to be an issue. We all have differently sized and shaped feet, so I’m sure it probably fits some people just fine. In that case, this would be a great night splint to use because you can easily shape the metal support with your hands as needed to put your foot in the correct position. And the materials are good quality and nice and soft. It seems to be well-made. If it were just more adjustable, it would help more people.
I've had Plantar Fasciitis on and off for over 30 years. I’ve come to learn that even if my feet are feeling OK, I still need to continue to stretch my feet to avoid a reoccurrence. I have a big bulky boot type splint that I got years ago when I first injured myself and it’s in good condition and still does the job, but it’s not the best thing when I travel, which is a lot.
My Fitomo split is a size M. My shoe size is a 7.5 wide, and this splint fits just fine. When it arrived in the box, it was flat and needed to be bent to a 90% angle to the calf. It bent easy enough with just my hands. It has instructions, but using it is pretty intuitive, especially if you’ve used a traditional boot type splint before. This splint is light weight, but strong enough to hold your foot at a 90% angle without bending. I only wore it to bed one night to see how it felt, and it was great; it’s nice not to have a bulky splint on when sleeping. My doctor recommended for prevention that rather than sleep with my splint, that I use it for at least 2 hrs. in the evening while watching TV, which is how I’ve used this splint. My routine is to wear the splint on each foot on alternating nights for 1 week. I do this once a month since I do light stretching exercises for my feet each morning before I get out of bed. I haven’t had a recurrence for close to 10 yrs. with this routine.
I really like this brace, it’s comfortable, compact, and effective. I love that it’s will travel much better than my big splint. I would recommend this split to anyone looking for a more compact option for their plantar fasciitis.
